Volunteering at Grounds for Sculpture
During my spare time I am a trained docent at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. Grounds for Sculpture is a 42 acre sculpture park established in 1992 by artist Seward Johnson. As a docent, my goal is to give visitors a well rounded tour of the park and to change the way they look not only at art but at the world around them. On each and every tour I aim to inspire our visitors to appreciate art in a new way and maybe even feel empowered to create art themselves. I also volunteer helping out with kids and adult art workshops that are put on throughout the year. In the past I have helped with workshops on: clay face jugs, altered books, paper quilling, and flip books. I am also trained on working with visually impaired guests to assist them in experiencing the sculpture park.
Youth Art Month
In March 2014, I had worked with a classmate to design an interactive mural for the opening reception of Mercer County's Youth Art Month at Artworks Trenton. This video shows the process of children and adult participants helping complete the large paint-by-number mural as a community. This finished piece will be displayed at Art All Night 2014.
